CoLAB devised a Short Learning Programme (SLP) specifically for EOH called Right First Time SLP, as requested by the CEO of EOH Right first program, Dirk van Aarde.

As with the standard SLP that CoLAB presents, this programme is also accredited with the North West University and is on a NQF Level 5.

Eight of these courses have already been presented at EOH with this year being the 4th year running. The last delegates who participated brought the total number of delegates who have successfully completed the course to 120.

This year’s SLP ran from 11 May – 12 September 2016. The 15 participants from different business units within EOH were divided into three groups and attended class for a full day every second week. Colonel Bobby Keller was the lecturer. They did the final presentations on the 17th of August and wrote their theoretical exam on the 12th of September.

The groups were called Kathi Construction, Pamuja and Building Dynamics – names the groups chose for their respective project management “companies”, working on a specific project to complete. They also got LEMON training to understand themselves and the group dynamics better and learned the basics of MSP.

This practical and theoretical course based on the book Project Management Techniques (Rory Burke) is also presented to the public at CoLAB.

Each delegate needs to attend the class one evening each week for 13 weeks and participate in the final presentation of his/her group’s project. They also need to compile a portfolio of evidence, which is a step by step guide on the group’s whole project from the initiation to the close out phase. They will also write an exam.

After successful completion of the course, each delegate receives a certificate from CoLAB and the North West University, also indicating 20 contact hours.

The next public course will be presented at CoLAB as from February 2017. Classes will be on a Wednesday evening from 17:00 – 20:00.

Fifteen participants are required for each course.

Cost: R15 800, excluding VAT. All training material will be provided

Note: CoLAB staff members and their closest family members (who will be selected on merit) will only pay R8 500 for the course.
